    The Employment Consultant II position supports people who are participating in a national Social Security funded research project in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment in Hennepin County. In this role, you would support a caseload of up to 20 people throughout the employment process including individualized training, job coaching, and advocacy. Cultivating job opportunities with area businesses within the community is another key aspect of this role. This is a unique opportunity to influence change on a national level while making a difference in the lives of the people we serve.

    • Provide strengths based, individualized job placement services for persons served with a focus on enhancing job seeking skills, preparing resumes and cover letters and interviewing
    • Cultivate competitive job opportunities for persons served with businesses and employers in the community
    • Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
    • Connect and assist individuals with accessing resources within the community
    • Equip individuals with the tools needed to be successful in their new careers through ongoing support
    • Advocate for necessary job accommodations to employers on behalf of persons served
    • Utilize person centered thinking and Motivational Interviewing to best engage and support persons served

    Qualifications & Benefits


    • Successful clearance of a DHS background check
    • Acceptable driving record
    • Knowledge and/or experience working with adults with mental health diagnosis and other barriers to employment including physical disability, criminal history, chemical dependency, homelessness, etc.
    • Excellent organizational skills 
    • Strong interpersonal and creative problem-solving skills
    • Knowledge of supported employment field and one year of experience providing job placement and job development services preferred
    • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred or equivalent work history of two years
