The therapeutic recreation intern will experience all aspects of a community-based life enrichment program while gaining valuable experience in all areas of the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) job task competencies. The goal of this internship will be to gain a better understanding of the role of therapeutic recreation within a Day Treatment and Habilitation program and be better prepared to work in this field within the nonprofit sector. Rise Anoka serves 65 individuals with a range of special needs. We focus on life enrichment so a large portion of the intern’s day to day activities would include planning and leading activities, such as arts and crafts, baking, sensory, and physical activity, to meet a wide range of abilities.
