    The purpose of this position is to assist individuals with criminal felony backgrounds or with mental health diagnoses find and obtain jobs in Stearns, Benton, Sherburn & Wright Counties. The individual will work within a Mental Health Treatment Team under an IPS project as well Re-Entry services.

    • Help persons served obtain and maintain fulfilling and rewarding competitive jobs while reducing recidivism, decreasing their mental health symptoms and assisting with successful re-integration into the community
    • Build employment supports based on mental health symptoms and functional limitations
    • Provide individualized job placement services through regular meetings 1-3 times a week with person served to work on job seeking skills, preparing resumes and cover letters and interviewing
    • Actively cultivate competitive job opportunities with businesses and employers in the community as appropriate
    • Equip and empower individuals to be successful in their new job opportunity through ongoing support
    • Help persons served manage their symptoms well at work site
    • Advocate on behalf of individual with employer regarding job accommodations 
    • Work as part of a treatment team for persons served and attend monthly treatment team meetings with individual’s therapist, case manager and housing support specialist
    • Work as part of a Vocational Unit with other Placement Specialists in the region and Vocational Rehabilitation Services bi-weekly at rotating locations
    • Assist individuals with gaining access to additional community supports and coordinating with various providers on an individual’s team
    • Responsible for maintaining a caseload of 15-20 people while tracking and documenting variety of data about services provided as well as billing through electronic case management systems
    • Utilize person centered thinking, motivational interviewing and mental health symptomology to best engage with person served

    Qualifications & Benefits


    • Knowledge and experience working with individuals with significant criminal histories assisting them with successful re-integration into the community
    • Knowledge and/or experience working with adults with a mental health diagnoses and mental health field
    • Strong vocational/job placement background in community employment and understanding of mental health diagnoses
    • Degree in human services, vocational or social services preferred
    • A valid driver’s license and compliance with Rule 11 and MVR background check required.
    • Travel to meet persons served and other business needs on a daily basis with use of a personal vehicle required. Mileage reimbursed
    • Comfortable with electronic case management and documentation



    Starting wage $16.00 hr., offer DOQ
