    This position is a shared role in which 50% of the job is to provide pre-placement, job placement, training and long-term employment support to people who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing or DeafBlind and have developmental disabilities. The other 50% of the job consists of assisting/supervision of people who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing or Deafblind on a production floor. 


    We are seeking candidates for either a part time or full time role.

    50% Production Direct Support Professional Duties:

    • Working alongside people who are deaf and have intellectual disabilities on the production floor
    • Provide supervision and training for people supported on jobs and work skills through coaching, postivie reinforcement and personal example.
    • Maintain quality and production levels requried by business partners
    • Daily documentation on outcomes and progress of people served with contact notes and entering of payroll into Care Director


    50% Ocupational Communication Specialist Duties:

    • Help persons served obtain and maintain fulfilling and rewarding competitive jobs
    • Provide individualized job placement services through regular meetings with person served to work on job seeking skills, preparing resumes and cover letters and interviewing
    • Actively cultivate competitive job opportunities with businesses and employers in the community as appropriate
    • Equip and empower individuals to be successful in their new job opportunity through ongoing support and relationship with employers
    • Adapt communication style to effectively match that of the person served
    • Train individuals to meet employer expectations including appropriate behaviors and production standards
    • Help persons served manage their symptoms well at work site
    • Advocate on behalf of individual with employer regarding job accommodations
    • Responsible for maintaining a caseload while tracking and documenting variety of data about services provided as well as billing through electronic case management systems
    • Utilize person centered thinking and motivational interviewing to best engage with person served

    Qualifications & Benefits


    • Knowledge of job training practices for people who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing or DeafBlind required
    • Knowledge and/or experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred
    • Ability to use ASL at an advance level required (SLPI score of Advanced Plus - or ability to work towards this goal)
    • Knowledge of variety of supported employment systems and community based training program models preferred
    • A valid driver’s license and compliance with Rule 11 and MVR background check required.
    • Travel to meet persons served and other business needs on a daily basis with use of a personal vehicle required. Mileage reimbursed
    • Degree in human service field and previous experience working with people with severe disabilities and in production preferred
    • Previous experience working with people with behavioral challenges and implementing positive approaches to behavior management preferred
    • Previous experience with people who are deaf and/or people who use alternative communication methods
    • Valid drivers license and compliance with Rule 11 and MVR background check required
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds daily



    $16.50 per hour - Occasional evenings/weekends
