The purpose of the position is to develop essential training for team members on assistive technology and communication devices so they can best support the people we serve using these devices.



  • Create an assistive technology training and development plan
    • Identify and categorize assistive technology knowledge basics
    • Produce a PowerPoint training on the basics of assistive technology for team members
    • Focus on how team members can stay up to date with emerging technologies
    • Create a how to/troubleshooting guide for currently used equipment
    • Recommend developments for the future
  • Research assistive technology resources and funding opportunities
  • Work one on one with people supported to assess and teach assistive technology skills

Internship deliverables:

  • Training for team members
  • Troubleshooting guide for current equipment
  • Guide on assistive technology resources and funding sources
  • Recommendations for future developments


Qualifications & Benefits


  • Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program

  • Competencies or previous experience in with assistive technology and communication devices

  • Passion and aptitude for working with adults with disabilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite,Windows 10 and internet applications

    • Knowledge of Windows Ease of Access Center preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability

  • Strong team player with high energy, drive and a positive attitude

  • A self starter who is comfortable addressing challenges with critical thinking skills and patience

  • Compliance with DHS background check and fingerprinting


  • Gain hands on experience working with individuals using assistive technology and communication devices

  • Advance the work and life skills of people with disabilities using assistive technology

  • Provide invaluable knowledge and expertise for team members working with individuals using assistive technology
  • Participate in industry leading services to people with disabilities

  • Broaden your professional network

  • $500 stipend depending on commitment and qualifications

Time Commitment:

  • 10-20 hours per week
  • Preferred state date early June
