The purpose of this internship is to support Rise’s marketing and communications efforts, and in particular focus on the marketing of Rise’s services to referral source(s), people eligible for Rise programming, and their families. Program growth is a critical component of Rise’s strategic plan and budget this year, and this position will support those goals.



  • Meet with program managers to understand their openings, referral and intake process, referral sources, and eligibility requirements.
  • Develop and document methodology for keeping referral source list current and comprehensive.
  • Develop customized marketing plans for each Rise service.
    • Build PowerPoint presentations and scripts to be delivered by a variety of Rise staff to various audiences
    • Create email and social media messaging that will increase engagement with prospective service recipients, their families and referral sources
    • Create a structured plan and materials for tours and visits by people interested in learning more about Rise services
    • Research options for external outreach, ex. transition fairs
    • Make recommendations for beginning or growing partnerships with other organizations as a source of referrals

Qualifications & Benefits


  • Strong written, oral communications and interpersonal skills needed
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and detail-oriented personality with excellent time management skills
  • Background in marketing, communications, philanthropy, non-profit management or event planning preferred
  • Must be able to travel to other Rise locations throughout the Twin Cities for meetings during daytime hours


  • Apply marketing knowledge into practice in non-profit environment
  • Develop relationships with Rise management team, county case managers, state government employees, and the families of the people we support
  • Help drive mission of the organization
  • $500 (part-time) - $1,000 (full-time) stipend depending on commitment and qualifications
  • Engage with interns in other Rise programs and departments through our cohort model


Time Commitment:

  • 20 – 40 hours per week
  • Preferred state date early June
